“The aim of art is not to represent the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”
--Aristotle.
Painting is a journey into inner realms of imagination. I enter the process with curiosity, seeking a sense of freedom and aliveness. Before I begin painting, I take walks in nature and connect with the land. The spacious soulfulness of the desert is like a blank canvas inviting color and inspiring imagery.
Rather than capture reality, I prefer to express the hidden wonder, the organic exuberance and poetry as well as the stillness. As a colorist, I like to make bold statements and delight in the way colors overlap and shade into each other, creating fluidity and movement.
